Introduction
At CS-GB CIC, we are committed to creating inclusive, respectful, and engaging environments at all our events. This policy outlines how to identify and manage disruptive or disinterested behaviour to ensure a positive experience for all attendees, speakers, sponsors and attendees.
Examples of Disruptive or Disinterested Behaviour to Look Out For
- Speaking whilst the keynote speaker or panelists are talking
- Using mobile phones in a distracting manner to others
- Appearing intoxicated or under the influence of substances
- Displaying aggressive, rude, or confrontational behaviour
- Ignoring event guidelines or safety instructions
- Repeatedly leaving or disengaging from the event
- Harassing or intimidating others
Advice on How to Manage Behaviour
- Remain Calm and Respectful: Approach the individual discreetly and with empathy
- Clarify Expectations: Gently remind them of the event’s code of conduct or participation guidelines
- Offer Support: If the behaviour stems from confusion, discomfort, or fatigue, offer assistance or a break
- Issue a Warning if Needed: If the behaviour continues, issue a polite but firm warning
- Escalate When Necessary: Involve a member of the Event Management Team or venue security if the situation does not improve or becomes unsafe
- Document the Incident: Record the details for internal review and follow-up
