Justice for All is a series of high-level evening events hosted at the Old Bailey during the Shrieval year of Alderman Robert Hughes-Penney, Sheriff of the City of London (2025–2026). The series brings together senior figures from the legal profession, government, business, and civil society to explore the evolving nature of justice—both in the UK and globally.

Rooted in the City of London’s centuries-old commitment to the rule of law, this initiative aims to shine a spotlight on some of the most pressing challenges facing modern justice systems: access to justice, fair treatment of the accused, support for survivors, reintegration of prison leavers, and the future of justice funding. Each event is designed not only to foster rigorous discussion, but also to facilitate meaningful action, collaboration, and reform.

The Old Bailey—formally the Central Criminal Court of England and Wales—serves as the symbolic and practical home of the series. As the world’s most recognisable criminal court, it stands as a testament to the enduring importance of fairness, integrity, and the independence of the judiciary.

The series aligns closely with UN Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) and marks the 800th anniversary of the 1225 Magna Carta. This historic milestone invites us to reflect on the origins of the rule of law, while renewing our shared commitment to justice in the 21st century.

Each evening event is carefully curated to combine gravitas with candour:

  • A keynote address sets the tone.
  • A panel of experts from across sectors brings insight and challenge.
  • A Q&A with the audience ensures engagement.
  • A private dinner for a small group of speakers and guests fosters strategic dialogue.

The Justice for All Series seeks to convene those with influence and responsibility—not only to reflect on justice, but to shape it. Whether you are a judge, barrister, legislator, policymaker, corporate leader or third-sector pioneer, your voice matters. Together, we can ensure that justice remains the foundation of a free, fair, and prosperous society.
